A promise is a commitment by someone to do or not do something. The Constitution has made many promises to the U.S. citizens and the government must make sure every promise is fulfilled. Some of these promises are individual rights, provide for the common defense, and right to a speedy trial. All of these promises are incorporated in the Constitution. Individual Rights, is the first amendment to the Constitution. It talks about freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition. Secure the blessings of liberty is the last goal in the Preamble and it gave us our individual rights. These are two of many examples

This picture is literally the definition of the word "promise". Every word within this Wordle is a synonym for the word. The picture and the Constitution share many important feelings. Within every promise lays trust, comfort, safety, and warmth. People like to feel these ways because it feels good. We should feel like this when we talk about the Constitution. It has promised us a better life than the colonists who came here so long ago. If the Constitution did not keep its promises, everyone would lose these feelings. I believe the Constitution has done a great job keeping its promises but other people may not think so. Some people believe the Constitution has not kept it's promise of all people born in America being citizens. Immigrants have moved here to better the lives of their children while other people are preventing that to happen by treating them badly. Still the Constitution has kept many of us safe and sound.

“"The liberties of our country, the freedoms of our civil Constitution are worth defending at all hazards; it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair inheritance from our worthy ancestors. They purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood. It will bring a mark of everlasting infamy on the present generation – enlightened as it is – if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle, or to be cheated out of them by the artifices of designing men." -Samuel Adams”

Very good job, Selena. I love your picture, but you spelled "truth" like "troth." I like you description of promises and how the Constitution promises these things in the First Amendment. Good job :) (see, I'm being NICE!)
